IPR Day @IPRS

The widespread use and easy accessibility of music have made it increasingly important for music creators to understand the scope of Intellectual Property Rights (IP) and its role in protecting the rights of authors, composers, and the owners of musical works. As a Music Copyright society, we recognize the significance of safeguarding the rights of music creators and ensuring that Music Makers can reap the benefits of their hard work and creativity.

IPRS Antakshari

For far too long, many brilliant composers and lyricists have remained hidden in the shadows, even as their creations have garnered widespread admiration and acclaim. IPRS’s mission has always been to bring these creators to the forefront, acknowledging their talent and dedication in crafting musical masterpieces that have become an integral part of our lives. Continuing the #CreditTheCreators initiative we celebrated IPRS Antakshari on World Music Day 2022. This was designed to bring attention to the often-overlooked lyricists and composers behind the music that brings joy to people’s lives.

Getting Organised During Adversities

In the wake of the current pandemic, many sectors and industries have been adversely impacted resulting in widespread uncertainties. There were growing concerns over livelihood and people were looking for direction and support to survive the economic downturn. The importance of being represented as a community whichever be the sector is felt now more than ever. Content creation had witnessed an unprecedented surge, the music industry was thriving with an explosion of talent and creativity. Unfortunately, the global pandemic plunged the entire music fraternity into a state of uncertainty.

IPRS Music Day

Social media and digital platforms offer incredible opportunities for artists, but we understand that navigating the complexities of music copyright and promotion can be overwhelming. Songwriters, publishers, and music creators often face confusion when it comes to sharing their music on social media channels. From understanding how to include their music in stickers to dealing with content blocks, acquiring all the necessary rights, and tackling unauthorized use of their work, the road to success can seem unclear.

#Credit The Creators

Every song we listen to is a musical story that is created with a lot of effort by composers and lyricists. However, not many remember these behind-the-scenes creators, who often get lost in the pages of music sheets. IPRS in association with Music Plus has launched a thought-provoking campaign, “#CreditTheCreators” to acclaim the Creators and Celebrate them along with their work! The 2-week long campaign around World Music Day, aimed to invite everyone to acknowledge those behind the power of words and melodies that have shaped our moments of merriment and misery equally, forever etching those songs in our memories.

Maa - Essence of Unconditional Love

On occasion of Mother’s Day IPRS released a poignant song titled MAA. The song which has been written by Lyricist Sameer Anjaan, composed by Raju Singh and performed by Sonu Nigam is a tribute to mothers all over the world and the spirit of Unconditional Love! Honouring the eternal love between a child and the mother, the song captures the indispensable role that mothers’ play in everyone’s life. These times with the family at home has made us realise what our moms do and have done for us unconditionally.
